當時姊妹年幼，加上伯父恐嚇「這是秘密不能說」，直到前年姊妹就讀小學三年級時告訴父親，其父去家扶中心舉發，警方展開調查，姊妹也獲安置。

蔡男否認猥褻姪女，辯稱因分家產，弟弟不滿才唆使女童誣告，蔡男測謊未過，加上女童被安置後，出現創傷症候表現，會翻床、摳指甲到流血，常恍神且有憂鬱傾向，經精神科醫師鑑定為創傷症。
