Android原本專為相機打造 後續才轉向手機

原本以為一開始就是針對手機裝置所設計的Android，根據Andy Rubin所透露說法，其實原本是針對相機產品所打造平台，主要方便使用者藉由此平台讓相機產品與電腦連接，並且快速連接雲端儲存空間使用，但後續因為發現發展市場緩慢、有限，因此才改變轉往手機市場。

根據Android之父Andy Rubin近期於東京座談活動上透露，Android平台最初其實是設計給相機產品使用，主要是讓相機可透過有線或無線方式連接至家用電腦，並且串接至位於雲端的「Android資料中心」存放。不過，後續因為考量在相機市場的發展緩慢且有限，因此最後改變計畫朝向手機市場發展，而事實上主要程式核心並沒有太大差異。

在2005年間發展時，Android所設定競爭目標主要是微軟當時的Windows Mobile，以及Nokia當時的Symbian作業系統，而蘋果當時尚未推出iPhone產品，因此iOS平台自然不會是當時競爭對手。

Andy Rubin說明在當時的發展策略，主要希望將Android設定為以服務作為主打，同時顧及採用此平台的產品售價與市場擴散速度，因此並未像其他競爭對手會與合作夥伴收取系統平台授權費用。由於採用免費授權與開放式政策，因此Android在後續市場擴散速度十分驚人，目前也成為最高市佔平台，來到每天約有超過150萬台Android裝置被啟動的紀錄。

而在帶領Android平台達成現今市場發展，目前Andy Rubin也在上個月傳出將離開Android團隊消息，但之後仍將繼續在Google內任職，預計將負責其他更具創新的產品內容。至於現有Android團隊則將由目前負責Chrome產品的Sundar Pichai帶領。
