美國勞工部7月25日公佈，經季節調整後，截至7月20日為止當週，首次申請失業救濟金人數較前週修正值增加7,000人至343,000人，高於道瓊斯通訊社與彭博社調查經濟學家平均預估的34萬人。上週首次申請失業救濟金人數的4週移動平均值較前週修正值減少1,250人至345,250人。

勞工部發言人表示，7月份的季節性調整較易出現波動，主要受到車廠調整生產線以及學校放假等因素的影響。美國車廠7月向來有夏季停產的傳統，除休假外也藉以消化庫存及調整生產線與進行檢修，一般為一到兩週。彭博社報導，法國巴黎銀行（BNP Paribas）美國經濟學家Yelena Shulyatyeva表示，美國勞動市場持續改善當中，勞工市場的回穩與經濟增長的放緩，兩者之間出現了落差。

截至7月13日為止當週，經季節調整後，連續申請失業救濟金人數較前一週的修正值減少119,000人至2,997,000人。當週連續申請失業救濟金人數的4週移動平均值較前一週的修正值增加2,500人至3,023,250人。截至7月13日為止當週，經過季節性因素調整後的保險失業率較前週減少0.1個百分點成為2.3%。
