南投荷花季登場囉！市長許淑華邀請大家前來中興新村賞荷畫荷，並且透過鏡頭將荷花婀娜倩影留存心中。
南投市102年荷花季開幕暨省府路噴水池啟用典禮，9日上午在南投市中興新村椰林大道舉行，南投市長許淑華、中科管理局副局長郭坤明、省府副秘書長簡俊淦鈕啟動後，嶄新的噴水池和29池荷花在暑假開始前，正式和全國民眾見面，也為9月28日南投市公所在中興新村舉辦全國萬人健行活動暖身。
在南投荷花季開始後，全國詩人文化會也舉辦102年詩人節全國詩人表揚暨聯吟大會，400多位來自全台各地的詩人，在台灣省政資料館國際廳舉辦個人及團體吟詩大賽；南投市公所在聯吟會場外，推出客家美食、中興八景徵詩書法展、畫荷、荷詩書法展暨現場揮毫，由林木村理事長等多位藝術家參與。
中興荷花池畔噴水池啟用儀式由中科郭坤明副局長和許淑華市長共同主持。許淑華表示，中興新村荷花池經由中科管理局花費3千餘萬元整頓後，荷花池煥然一新，毀損多年的中興新村入口意象噴泉也整建為新款有夜間照明的華麗噴水池，民眾欣賞荷花的環境更優質，歡迎全國民眾到中興新村賞荷花。
她指出，南投市公所8日才舉辦全國舞獅舞龍鼓藝宋江陣獨輪車錦標賽，9日又舉辦全國詩人聯吟大會，兩天接連一武一文的全國性大會，展現南投市公所主辦大型活動的能力；9月28日全國萬人健行活動將是下一個全國性的大規模活動，歡迎全國民眾到南投欣賞中興八景四勝，也到南投健身。
荷花季活動現場除了有繪畫比賽，池畔還有五育高中朱主任、蕭主任帶領學生，在荷花池畔表演彩繪荷花仙子走秀，讓愛好攝影人士取鏡，增加荷花池的靈氣。
